Meenakshi Kothari is a compassionate psychologist on a mission to debunk the idea that mental health is only for the privileged. Her work is driven by a commitment to make mental health services more accessible. She strongly believes that therapy is a process of adding a co-pilot to your life, who walks alongside you, briefly but meaningfully, to help you get to your destination. She brings empathy, active listening, and a genuine ability to sit with complexity, making the relationship feel like a collaboration rather than a consultation. She completed her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University, New York, with a concentration in Global Mental Health and Technology in Psychotherapy. She has strengthened her research background and presented her work at multiple conferences around the U.S. Her clinical work was solidified at Montefiore Einstein, working with underserved populations in New York.
Her therapeutic work follows an eclectic approach, integrating techniques from various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. Her training within these models has helped her run successful tele-therapy groups for pregnant women navigating anxiety and depression, and parents of children with Autism. Additionally, she is a certified Health and Wellness coach, drawing on goal-setting and motivational interviewing techniques to support clients working towards a sustainable change. She is continuously learning new skills, reading research papers, and attending workshops to show up better for her clients.
Outside of work, Meenakshi loves to run to decompress (literally and figuratively), and she’s a foodie who believes a satisfying meal can be its own kind of therapy.
